Steve Eulberg's latest album, "a piece of it all," is brimming with wonderful acoustic Folk/Americana music and cleverly slips in other genres while each component of the band is intricate and outstanding. "Porch Swingin'" is a down home Folk/Blues track with heartfelt lyrics and splashed with great harmonica riffs. Another track, "Who Am I?" is a laid back song with charming violin fills and captures the rhythm of a romantic, Brazilian Bossa Nova beat. "Rock On Rock" is a vocally appealing song in that the call-and-response harmony between the lead and background vocals is impeccable and flows very well with the sound of the mandolin. The track "A Ship May Be Safe" harkens to the Irish history in Americana music with the soothing violin, nostalgic lyrics, and the warmth emitted through the artist's vocals specifically for this song. RadioIndy is pleased to present Robert R. Patterson with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Never Said Good Bye "

Robert R. Patterson's second CD, "Never Said Good Bye" finds the guitarist / singer-songwriter furthering an exploration of his unique songcraft in ways as original and inventive as they are satisfying. A virtuoso on guitar, Patterson turns his acoustic and electric guitars loose over 12 songs that delve into classical, folk, and blues influences which, nevertheless, blend seamlessly into a whole of potent musicality. Where the song "Five Dollar Mohawk" is a blues-rock workout with slashing slide licks, the hauntingly beautiful "Smile Little One" features acoustic picking as delicate as it is pristine. "Little Spanish Evening," an acoustic solo instrumental, is a veritable wordless lullaby, while the CD opener and titled track, "Never Said Good Bye" is an oddly effective composition that's both exotic and eccentric. Much of the album finds Patterson in elemental mode, his lone guitar and rich voice breathing life into songs of loss and redemption, but on the ballad, "Life," a deep and sonorous cello accompaniment raises the performance to solemnity. As second releases go, Robert R Patterson's "Never Said Good Bye" CD is a fine sophomore album, building on the echoes of his first, while pointing forward with his evolving potential.

This album stays nothing but smooth throughout, but still holds some edge and emotion with Ocean's strong vocals. "Someone Like You" has all the elements this album is about: passion, beautiful piano, and catchy melodies. Another gem is the last track, "Be Honest," a duet with a female singer. Tony Ocean's fine CD, "Me and Mrs. Jones," is easy listening anyone can enjoy.

"The Song Begins..." by Casey Erin Clark (Easy Listening Artist from New York City, New York(NY))

What makes "The Song Begins..." such a great CD of American show tune-inspired music is the realization Casey Erin Clark had as much fun recording it as we do listening to it. With a voice redolent of the Broadway vernacular, it should come as no surprise that she is working in theater in New York, even starring in a few Off-Broadway shows. Some tracks are even showcases of brand new songs from rising composers. On the CD-opener, "Real New Yorker Now," Clark blows you away with her strong, pitch perfect voice. "Murder! He Says" is another vocal highlight, a terrific jazz trio number with bounce and melody. But what's most important is staying passionate and entertaining, and that is really what Casey Erin Clark's "The Song Begins..." CD accomplishes.

"Q.E.D." by James Kennedy (Jazz Artist from Iowa(IA))

"Q.E.D." is the latest album released by the prolific guitarist and composer, James Kennedy. The musical style on this new CD has been described as "Midwestern Contemporary Music," since it is really an amalgam of jazz, blues, and folk, all led by James' playing on the 6 and 12 string guitar. Yet he also incorporates a good amount of Latin and World music influences, so it is a difficult album to quickly describe. "Down To the River" is a slower, folksy tune that uses the violin and guitar to paint a mental picture of antiquated American river life. Then, in "Raiders of the Silk Road," we have a very different tune, in which ambient noises and exotic sounds are used to create a feeling that's straight out of The Arabian Nights. For "Your Love Spell," James opts to let the guitar do the talking in a smooth and pleasant love song. "Q.E.D." is perfect for those who enjoy instrumental albums that can paint pictures of different places in your mind. It is also a great album for those who enjoy the guitar and violin, as there are many instances of beautifully played interactions between the two instruments.

If "Need Want" by David Cain & Senses were boiled down to one word, it would be: Hot. This soulful Progressive Jazz oozes virtuosity at ever beat. Every instrument on the album from the bass guitar, to the trumpet, to the synth is played with impressive mastery of the craft. But most noticeably, Cain puts as much feeling into his sax playing as he does into his singing. As a whole, the sheer skill of this outfit is displayed in the track "To You." Also, they really stretch outside being boxed into any genre with tracks like "Dude Where's My Face." Right from the start this album will take you to a place where you can relax and enjoy the emotive lyrics and soft percussive beats. Lead vocals are rich and pure as you can hear on songs such as "This Street, That Man" and "Can't Find My Way Home." Heartfelt lyrics reflect memories of times past on the song "Hometown Heroes" while acoustic guitar gently swirls around this interesting melody. As an added bonus, check out the terrific remakes of "The Mighty Quinn" (original by Manfred Mann) and "Cinnamon Girl" (original by Neil Young) as these songs offer a great nostalgic throwback. The debut album, "Last Round" by Joe Genuardi is a fresh and well made "piano man" album. Genuardi has a strong, clean voice and can play the "ivories" like the best of them. His lyrics don't sound trite or half-baked, like you occasionally find with others in this genre. From the title track, "Last Round" Genuardi shouts out to the men he obviously pulls influence from: Elton John and Billy Joel. His songs range from the upbeat and uplifting "Time Goes On" all the way to bleeding heart ballads like "Show Me the Way." Joe Genuardi has produced an excellent Adult Alternative/Pop album in "Last Round" that has at least one song for everyone.

Jeffrey Clarke's "Feelin' Fine" album is Country Rock that doesn't stop. His voice is pitch perfect and is complimented by the tight, well balanced instrumentation. Highlighting the vocals is the country style piano that almost plays a duet next to his voice. "Small Town Gone," being led by the drum beat, sounds more than radio ready. Later in the album, the harmonica on "They Got Their Reasons" gives the song the somber self-loathing touch Clarke was looking to achieve. With heart straight from the south, "Feelin' Fine" comes out to 10 terrific songs of Country Rock that would help fill out any great music collection.

KickBend's album "faith.hope.love" holds onto the same blues, soul, and country roots that rock bands from the 70's and early 80's captured. With gritty, tight vocals and strong musicianship they deliver a classic sound with a contemporary edge. On this CD, KickBend effectively changes tempos and moods, to keep it interesting throughout. The 4th track, "Legend," has the feel of an epic Bon Jovi sing-along ballad. Track 8, "Let's Make This Right," demonstrates the band's abilities by breaking it down to basics in a softer jam. "faith.hope.love" is a fun album with strong, powerful songs and is a great addition to the collection of any Adult Contemporary or Classic Rock listener.

Vocalist Connie Strange whips up a fantastic album, filled with gospel, blues, country, and even the slightest touch of jazz in her newest effort, "Fire…Brimstone & Love." The lead off track states what the entire CD has to offer with "He Said," an eclectic mix of blues and gospel spreading the word of God. Strange wasn't being clever when she named the disc "Fire…Brimstone & Love" for no reason. Although most of the songs are upbeat with a faith based message, tracks like "Are You Ready" talk about death and when the time comes, He will take you away… that is, if you are ready. A hidden gem on this album is Strange's cover of Louie Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World." We have all heard this done by so many, but Strange throw hers country/gospel flare into the mix and creates a great atmosphere with a song that could have easily fallen flat amongst a million other versions floating around in record stores. Gospel and country music fanatics will really enjoy "Fire…Brimstone & Love" and it may just get you to church on Sunday!

RadioIndy is pleased to present Al Sofia with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Destiny"

Talented vocalist Al Sofia shares his love for pop/easy listening music with his latest disc, "Destiny." With hints of Bobby Darin and Michael Buble, Sofia delivers an exceptional disc of both originals and cover songs. The title track "Destiny" shows his knack for creative songwriting and has that Philadelphia soul vibe to it. Although the album does feature some great original work, it is Sofia's covers that really shine through. Taking someone else's music and making it your own is never easy, but Sofia does it with ease on songs such as "You Raise Me Up" (popularized by Josh Groban). There are also some jazzy takes on well known Broadway numbers like "Seasons of Love" from the musical Rent and "It's Possible" from Suessical. "Destiny" is a great album for any fan of Hall & Oates or Michael Buble and is well worth listening to.

"Prove Me Wrong" by Nancy Casteele is an outstanding record for adult contemporary music lovers. The strong instrumentation comprised of guitars, piano, organ, and percussion accentuate and compliment Nancy's fresh voice. While the songs display varied tempos and pleasant melodies, the gritty, piercing lyrics express triumph over failed romantic experiences, strength and self-confidence. The solid backing vocals on the track "A Beautiful Shame" nicely lay behind Nancy's powerful lead vocals, while the catchy chorus adds a strong kick to the song. The trance-like title track "Prove Me Wrong" speaks of personal growth with vocals reminiscent of the classy Jazz singers of the 40's paired with a slick, modern electric guitar. If you enjoy gutsy, passionate vocals backed by a talented band, then this CD would make an excellent addition to your playlist.

"Crazy Kind of love" By Winslow is a fantastic mix of pop,rock and funk that is a true breath of fresh air, as it is truly innovative and against the norm. The album starts off with the stellar track "Breakdown." Good choice in leading off the CD. As soon as you pop this bad boy in, Winslow hits you with a funky slap bass line that assures you that Winslow isn't some generic rock band. "Control" is the standout track on the album and is very rememinencent of bands like Maroon 5 and Red Hot chili Peppers. The bass work on this album is amazing. as well as the horn section. The combination of the two really make this album jump into drive. The album is chock full of great musicianship from every member and is real treat for anyone looking to get away from the norm and lose yourself in the grooves. "Moon in the Afternoon" is a guitar-driven pop rock album from talented singer/songwriter Bo Blider and the Bo Blider Band. In crafting his sound, Blider draws from a number of genres, from '70s rock to blues to folk to reggae to '90s pop. The result is twelve timeless tracks with poppy lyrics, catchy choruses, and a great melodic sound. The Bo Blider Band's arrangements are tight and skillfully done, with great guitar work, including great acoustic progressions, electric solos, and funky basslines. Blider clearly draws from his experience in John Lennon and The Beatles tribute bands for both his sound and vocal performances. As a result, he sounds similar to Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Billy Joel. "Moon in the Afternoon" also has a great production quality and a clean, polished sound. "Chit Chat Chum" begins with a great guitar lick that quickly becomes the underlying rhythm of the entire song, coupled with quirky and memorable lyrics. "Shame On You" is a finger-snapping blues track with great piano, bass, and guitar arrangements and more great lyrics. "Moon in the Afternoon" is an album that really puts Bo Blider on display as a talented, true-to-his-roots singer/songwriter. Fans of Beatles-influenced '70s rock fused with '90s pop, check out the Bo Blider Band.

If you are looking for that old Chicago blues sound than "Under The Blues Sky" the latest CD by Ron McManaman should be next on your album shopping list. McManaman's vocals really stand out as they have that gritty and lazy John Lee Hooker style to them. His lyrics also speak a certain sadness and truth to the listener's ears (you can tell this guy has been around for a long time). "Ain't Gonna Change My Heart" oozes that classic Fender Stratocaster blues tone and features some tasty but not too flashy guitar work by McManaman. The artist also stays true to the Chicago blues with "Sitting Under the Blues Sky" a song Muddy Waters or Willie Dixon would have been proud to call their own. The disc has raw and from-the-gut production giving it an authentic blues sound.

KC Williams has released his latest CD "The Best of KC Williams" featuring a fine collection of his best work. Well rooted in the world of country music, Williams is a stand out performer and has played with some of the finest musicians in this genre. The "The Best of KC Williams" highlights his most notable tracks including songs like "1-800 I'm a Fool" or "Beauty's in the Eye of the Beerholder" and "Honky Tonk Hilton." All of these numbers captures the classic country ambiance and hilarious amusing titles to go with them. Williams brings everything down a notch, with a sweet ballad perfect for any Tim McGraw fan. Another song worth mentioning is "Without you (I'm Just an Ordinary Man)" for it has some excellent pedal steel guitar playing. "Ten Pennies Make a Dime" by Fred Prellberg (Rock Artist from Illinois(IL))

Playing with '60's & '70's rock forms like a kitten unraveling a ball of yarn, Fred Prellberg reveals a host of vaunted influences on his most recent CD, "Ten Pennies Make a Dime." Opening with a rock salvo copping The Pirates' classic "Shakin' All Over" guitar riff, "No Man's Land" devolves into a MC5-like rock jam, underscoring the album's core rock 'n roll ethos. Elsewhere, "Mari Tamed the Mountain Lion" and the ironic "Lie" sport decidedly melodic, post-Beatles pop-rock grooves, "Hands of God," with its careening Hammond organ backing, comes across like an adrenaline-fueled, '60's garage band hyped up on Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower," and the cinematic "Tornado Alley" feels like a less-than-subtle tribute to the grandiosity of Springsteen's "Born to Run" lp. "Real Real Wild," a pure rockabilly tune with some Jordanaires-like backing and Carl Perkins-worthy accompaniment, shows the breadth of "Ten Pennies'" influences, while album closer, "The World Today" (dedicated to the late cult figure, Nikki Sudden), brings it all home with an Ian Hunter-like rocker as Prellberg & band leave the song (and album) hanging on an unresolved chord. Despite the many influences, however, Fred Prellberg's "Ten Pennies Make a Dime" CD is as cohesive as it is original, a studied exercise with literate and insightful lyrics that declares the album is more about the author's artistic vision than its many influences.

Singer/songwriter Steve Pedvin's engaging style of guitar driven pop/rock is on full display on his excellent CD, "Sparks in the Sky." Often recalling the fertile talents of Dire Straits' Mark Knopfler and particularly his classic "Brothers in Arms" LP, "Sparks in the Sky" 13 tuneful tracks run the gamut of potent rockers such as "Alive," to solemn ballads like "When Lightning Strikes," to feet-tapping swing on "Stuck in a Hole," all the while effected with the know-how and sly humor, of a performer of impeccable artistry. As a guitarist, Pedvin's tone and phrasing are spot on, whether invoking the spirit of Jimi Hendrix on "Nowhere to Go" or providing an acoustic picking-style backing on the solid, folk-like number, "Thirty Five." As a vocalist, he displays a range of tone and inflection that serve the song first and foremost and, as a writer, Pedvin's songs are as original as they are musically satisfying, reminding us all over again why rock 'n'roll remains a vibrant and important art form, even as it nears the end of its sixth decade. Steve Pedvin's aptly-titled "Sparks in the Sky" CD is a vision of musical sparks that illuminates the sky.

"We R a Nation," the 3rd CD by Thumper & Generation One, finds the one-man band continuing to navigate the sounds and styles of R&B, jazz, funk, rock, and pop with the intuitive finesse of a veteran ensemble. Opening with a propulsive R&B rock gem, "It's Time," worthy of Prince, Thumper establishes the contours of the 13 tracks to follow. The title song, "We R a Nation," rides an R&B quiet storm groove in a call-out for unity and tolerance, while "Dreams do Come True" is an urban-leaning contemporary song with a smooth jazz composition of both melody and rhythm. Finishing as strong as it started, the album closes with a bang with the bracing funk of "Chicken Pickin'," with its Southern-influenced groove and bursts of soulful horns. But throughout the album, its Thumper's tasteful guitar virtuosity – at times, reminiscent of George Benson, among other stalwarts – that provides the musical backbone to his accessible and catchy compositions. "Perfect Chaos," Sue Quigley's latest CD, is a polished continuation of this fine Seattle-bred singer-songwriter's exploration of traditional and classic female rock forms. This time around, though, the acoustic guitars are a little more pronounced and the rhythms less insistent, but the hooks are no less engaging and Quigley's resonant voice still squeezes every last drop of blood from her songs' intricate veins. And rich veins they are. "Fallen World" masterfully blends a syncopated rhythm to a sonorous cello in a moving bid for hope and redemption, while the melodic "Paper Tiger" languorous vocal belies the rage smoldering barely under the surface. "Picture in a Drawer" and "She's Not Talking to You" are nifty mid-tempo numbers reminiscent of female rock forebears like Johnette Napolitano, Sass Jordan, or Patty Smyth. But on the album's stripped down ballads - such as the closer, "How It's Going to Be," with it's demo-like vocal and acoustic guitar-only performance – or the moving "Yours to Say," Quigley reveals the softer edges of a fiercely independent artist to best effect. All told, "Perfect Chaos" is a terrific alternative pop/rock-oriented CD and a fine addition to Sue Quigley's growing and noteworthy canon.

Robin Horlock's aptly titled third CD; "Music." is an 11-song collection of tuneful, well-constructed songs that reflect the singer's Adult Contemporary experiences to great effect. Noted for the relaxed but soulful passion in his vocals, Horlock delivers hook-filled, guitar-based tunes with the ease and capability of a Jack Johnson or John Mayer, but without surrendering his own considerable uniqueness. Employing extremely tasteful blends of acoustic and electric fretwork throughout, "Music." highlights consist of Adult Contemporary gems that showcase styles ranging from California-style soft rock "Here & Now" to post-Eagles Don Henley pop-rock "Everything Falls Apart." On "The Difference Between Day and Night" Horlock even seems to channel the '70's-era voice of John Sebastian, while "Life Goes On" features spare but distinctly affective sax lines to flesh out a stirring anthem of hope. Simply put, "Music." is another strong CD from an artist whose instincts for savvy and smart adult pop are spot-on.

The production is clean and professional, characterized by wonderfully layered vocals over a rhythmic backdrop provided by fantastic musicians on live instruments. "After the Storm" by Lightnin Rod and The Thunderbolts is true classic blues gem. From front to back the album just screams old school blues with amazing licks, strutting bass lines and beats that swagger. The definitely features a full sound with great female backing vocals and sultry saxophone work thrown into the mix. The album also sounds great, with great care taken in amplifying a great natural guitar tone and shaping a great sound around it. The album comes out of the gates strong with "Close To You," a track that encompasses each and every element of the bands frill-less sound and concept. "Bring you back Home" opens with a wicked guitar intro, gritty vocals and great female back up vocals. The standout track on his album has to be "Narcissistic Fool", which features a slick guitar riff, a fantastic plucky bass line and great sax accents. If you are a fan of artists like JJ Cale, Eric Clapton or BB King this is a must pick up. It stands alone as a truly Professional sounding album with some very well written songs and a very talented band to boot.
